And In Arcadia Ego

Huzza My good fellows!

Believe it or not, my today's subject in "Mythology in the arts" was...

Arcadia

Yes my gentle lads. The myth, the art, the fangirl.

Arcadia, Arkadía (Greek Αρκαδία), or Arcady is a region of Greece in the Peloponnesus. It takes its name from the mythological character Arcas.
  • The word Arcadia has idyllism Become a poetic meaning "Utopia". Pete Doherty IS Among Many Who Has Used this symbol in Their Works.
Arcadia And today does not cease to be an artistic influence. Pete Doherty makes numerous references to and imagine it as an idyllic place to which his ship Albion is currently traveling. It is also a utopian place with no rules where he says he may well be that cigarettes are grown on trees.
Albion is the boat with which the musicians Pete Doherty and Carl Barat travel. Their destination the beautiful Arcadia où ils passeront le reste de leur vie dans la débauche et le bonheur.

As you, perhaps, don't know... Albion is a poetic name for the great britain, coming from the old name Alba, still used in Ireland and Wales.

Bergers d'Arcadie (Poussin)

Here the painting "Les bergers d'Arcadie" of Poussin... It was the picture we were talkin' about...

When the teacher begin to speak of a place of wonder, place of poets and artists, where no one would known fear and death, I'd turn to my friend and say whith emphasis "Arcadiaaaaaa" and then, come back to my drawing with a laugh, don't thinkin' about anymore... (Anyway, my friend desn't know Arcadia and even more Peter Doherty... so... I let go quite easily)
BUT! When the teacher say "It goes by the name of Arcadia" I jump and almost shout something like "HaHAAA! I was right!" ans my two neighbours turn to me and start laughinf since I was saying rubbish to the questions since then...
It was my glory moment... I should have been crucifixed with happiness... xD

Albion's on cours my lads...
